Internet Voting

Did you know that internet voting is already in place in Canada? It’s just not used for provincial and federal elections. Some municipal governments across Canada use internet voting. Also, some political parties vote for their leaders with internet voting. What are the pros and cons?

The City of Edmonton conducted a mock election in 2012 to test out the possibility of using internet voting. The Jellybean Internet Voting Election was used to test voter privacy, security, auditability (how to track results) and usability. Even though many people thought internet voting would work and be effective and secure, the City of Edmonton decided not to go ahead.
