Fair elections

The Fair Elections Act was passed in 2014 by the Conservative government. The Act implemented a number of changes to the electoral process in federal elections. One of these changes involved voter identification. In the bill, Voter Information Cards were not allowed to be used as identification. Vouching, or allowing a voter with proper identification to vouch for the identity of another voter, was also prohibited.

In 2018, the Election Modernization Act was passed by the Liberal government. It reintroduced both the Voter Information Card as a piece of identification and vouching.

Do you think more restrictive identification guidelines may disadvantage some voters? Who do you think may be most affected?
