Democracy is not just something that occurs when there is election. The choice to participate is one that everyone makes on a daily basis. However, elections are an extremely important aspect of a democracy. Although elections happen every four years, the electoral process in ongoing.

Elections Alberta ensures that the process works as well as possible. In the first year after an election, the electoral process is reviewed and reports are written. In the second year, preparations are started for the next election. In the third year, programs and procedures are tested and materials required for the election are gathered. Year four is election year!
